Brotherhood of the Wolf
After mentioning this movie in my last post I thought I'd dig out the DVD and give it a re-watch, well it has been a while.
Brotherhood of the Wolf is a French movie, released in 2001, set in the historic region of the County of Gevaudan, southern France, now Lozere, in the 18th centenary.
The story revolve round Gregoire de Fronsac (knight and the royal naturalist) and his native American companion Mani being sent to Gevaudan by King Louise XV to investigate the slaughter of hundreds of people by an unknown creature, and to capture it if possible.
,
The plot is loosely based on the legend of the Beast of Gevaudan where a man eating animal or animals terrorised the province between 1764-1767.
The movie itself is a bit of a hybrid, part thriller, part horror, part historical romance but overall a great movie and worth a watch, the special effects (CGI) hasn't held up too well in places but the practical effects are good and the fight scenes are well choreographed.
