Video Nasties: The Seduction of the Gullible Pt 3.3

Cannibal Apocalypse, right I have to admit that I couldn't find an exact reason as to why this film was banned, nothing on any of the usual sources, nothing via search engines, so I'm going to make the educated guess that it's the fact that it had Cannibal in the title.
John Saxon and his buddies were prisoners of war in Vietnam, whilst there they pick up a virus that turns people into cannibals if bitten.
It looks like there were only ever 2 seconds cut from the original movies, flamethrower vs rat, rat lost!
It's an interesting concept for a movie but not brilliantly executed, it's ok, watchable but not very memorable, probably would have fallen by the wayside if not for the Video Nasty label.
Sorry only a trailer available, no full movie on YouTube.

Cannibal Ferox was originally released uncut on video in 1982 but when the BBFC got a hold of a copy it was banned and prosecuted under the Obscene Publications Act, a heavily cut version (around 6 minutes) was released in 2000, and a slightly less cut version in 2018 (around 2 minutes).
3 friends travel to Columbia to disprove the existence of cannibals, (what could go wrong!) they meet a couple of guys in the jungle, who they later find out have been torturing a local tribe who they were extorting emeralds from, the tribe is out for revenge!
The copy that was submitted to the BBFC in 2000 was already heavily cut, it was just 83 minutes, the full versions is around 96 minutes, this version had the all the cannibalism scenes cut, the dismemberment (pun intended) limb and eye removal, scalping, Man Called Horse scene and all the animal cruelty. The 2018 release just had the animal cruelty scenes cut, which I totally approve of, there was no need, didn't add anything to the story.
This Umberto Lenzi movie is hardcore, it's oppressive and gory, a fine example of the cannibal genre.
Sorry again only a trailer available, but it is available on Prime.

Cannibal Holocaust is probably the most recognisable of all the Nasties, the image of the impaled native girl became the image of the Nasties debacle. Passed with a 18 classification in 2001 with heavy cuts, surprisingly in 2011 it was passed virtually uncut.
Whilst looking for a missing documentary crew in the Amazon jungle a professor fine what appears to be the film shot by the crew.
The 2001 release was, as I've said before, heavily cut, the animal cruelty scenes were cut and the torture scene with the spiked ball, also the rape scene was trimmed, this is the 86 minute version, in 2011 the uncut version was released, around 92 minutes long. I'm personally happy to watch the cut version, I don't like animal cruelty, it doesn't add anything to the plot, you don't lose anything from it's exclusion.
This was one of the first found footage movies, it's an important movie that has spawned 100's if not 1000's of imitators, of varying success and standards. I like this movie, it's dark and disturbing and quite believable, so much so that Ruggero Deodato was actually charged with murder, the stars of the film were under contract to stay out of the public eye for a year, the Italian courts happy until the cast and crew were brought forward and the famous impalement scene was explained fully.

The Cannibal Man seemed to have suffered from the title and the marketing campaign (look at the video sleeve) which pointed to the movie being more extreme than it is, not really sure why this movie was prosecuted, can only put it down to a knee jerk reaction, released in 1993 with 3 seconds of cuts!
Marcos is having a bit of bad luck, he accidentally kills a taxi driver, but rather than report it he thinks he can just handle it himself by disposing of the body, he's a butcher, as people suspect what he's done he decides to get rid of them as well, digging himself deeper and deeper!
The 3 seconds of cut were to a throat slashing scene.
It a good movie that shows the domino effect quite effectively, a story about an ordinary man who's error in judgement is compounded, and who never eats any of his victims!
