Video Nasties: The Seduction of the Gullible Pt 3.4

Devil Hunter (1980) was banned and prosecuted as a video nasty but details again are a bit sketchy, it's listed on the BBFC website as it's original title of El Canibal so I can only assume it suffered from the C word or the fact that it was actually released on video pre-cert, passed fully uncut in 2008.
This Jess Franco effort is about the rescue of a kidnapped model by a Vietnam Vet on a cannibals island.
So what can I say about this movie, not a lot, it's badly acted, poorly shot and the effects are special, just wait until you see the cannibals! You could track down a copy but the trailer will give you everything you need to be honest, another title that only still exists because of it's inclusion on the nasties list.

Don't go in the Woods (1981) was banned (don't know why) and released uncut in 2007 with a 15 certificate!
There's a nutty mountain man who is killing tourists, yep that's basically it.
It's classed as a horror/thriller but I'd say it's more of a comedy horror, more by accident than design, it is quite fun but again probably survives today due to it's inclusion on the nasties list.

Driller Killer (1979) is another of the poster children of the nasty debacle, probably because of the cover art, it was banned due to the purported risk of copycats and excessive violence.
A struggling artist (Abel Ferrara, who also directs) goes slowly insane whilst trying to cope with paying his bills, working on his paintings and looking after his 2 female roommates, so to relieve the pressure he goes out at night and kills homeless people with a power drill, as you do!
The film had the infamous head drilling scene cut from it's 1999 release as well as some of the other kills being cut slightly, in 2002 it was rereleased as fully uncut and is now considered as public domain.
The first time I watched this I didn't get it, it was also a poor copy, and there was a lot of hype about it. The killings play a small part of the movie and Ferrara's decent into madness is the story, and he is very believable, this is well worth a view.
